Burkhard ist heute zu Gast auf dem Weingut Ktima Gerovassiliou im Land Alexanders des Großen, Makedonien. Das Stammhaus von Evangelos Gerovassiliou liegt in der Nähe von Thessaloniki. Nach einem Studium an der Landwirtschaftsschule der Aristoteles-Universität Thessaloniki wechselte er an die Universität Bordeaux um Önologie, Weinbau, Weinverkostung und die Technologie von Weinbereitungsanlagen zu studieren. Das Familienweingut wurde von ihm 1981 wiederbelebt. Nach verschiedenen Stationen in Frankreich und Griechenland gründete er 1998 zusammen mit dem Önologen Vassilis Tsaktsarlis das Weingut Biblia Chora in Chavala. Eine neue Akquisition ist das Weingut Kokkalis in Skafidia in der Provinz Ilia. Die Weinberge liegen an den Hängen des Epanomi.
Der Boden ist hauptsächlich sandig mit einigen lehmigen Substraten, kalkhaltigen Felsen und Meeresfossilien und die Winter sind mild und die Sommer kühl. Ideale Bedingungen für den Weinbau. Es wird nur Lesegut aus dem eigenen Weingut verwendet, alle landwirtschaftlichen Arbeiten werden händisch verrichtet. Es werden griechische und internationale Rebsorten angebaut. Die Rebsorte Malagousia wurde fast im Alleingang von Evangelos Gerovassiliou gerettet, deren Wiederanbau er bereits vor 50 Jahren forcierte. Vasiliki Gerovassiliou, die Tochter des Hauses stellt Weine und Weingut sehr charmant vor.

Burkhard is visiting the Ktima Gerovassiliou winery in the land of Alexander the Great, Macedonia. The family estate of Evangelos Gerovassiliou is located near Thessaloniki. After studying at the Agricultural School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he transferred to the University of Bordeaux to study oenology, viticulture, wine tasting, and the technology of winemaking equipment. He revived the family winery in 1981. After various positions in France and Greece, he founded the Biblia Chora winery in Chavala in 1998 together with oenologist Vassilis Tsaktsarlis. A recent acquisition is the Kokkalis winery in Skafidia, in the Ilia province. The vineyards are located on the slopes of Mount Epanomi.

The soil is mainly sandy with some clayey substrates, calcareous rocks, and marine fossil and the winters are mild and the summers cool. Ideal conditions for viticulture. Only grapes from the estate’s own vineyard are used, and all agricultural work is done by hand. Greek and international grape varieties are cultivated. The Malagousia grape variety was almost single-handedly saved by Evangelos Gerovassiliou, whose replanting he promoted 50 years ago. Vasiliki Gerovassiliou, the daughter of the estate, presents the wines and winery in a charming way.
